10 most loved tourist destinations in Vietnam during National Day holiday break

The Central Highlands city of Da Lat surpassed Da Nang to become the most loved destination of Vietnamese tourists during the four-day National Day holiday break, online travel agency Booking.com said.

Da Lat topped the list of bookings for the National Day according to the Dutch-based agency which conducted an analysis of check-in dates between Aug. 31 and Sept. 3.


Located 1,500 meters above sea level, Da Lat is known for its year-round cool climate and architectural gems dating back to French colonial times.


In September, temperatures there range from 17 to 24 degrees Celsius.

Da Nang, which was the most loved destination during last year's National Day holiday break, is now in second position.


In September, the temperature typically ranges from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius, providing the perfect conditions for engaging in beach activities.


Recently, My Khe and Non Nuoc beaches in Da Nang were named among the world's best by British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

The southern beach city of Vung Tau, around a two-hour drive from HCMC, came in third.


Vung Tau has always been one of the busiest destinations in the south during national holidays as crowds flood the three-kilometer-long Bai Sau, also known as Thuy Van beach.

Known for its long stretches of beautiful beaches and scuba diving, Nha Trangalong the south-central coast ranked fourth.


In the first six months of this year, Khanh Hoa, home to Nha Trang, received 5.2 million visitors. Foreign tourists reached nearly 2.4 million, up 3.2 times year-on-year.


The beach city recently organized a series of tourism festivals and opened new direct routes connecting with large tourism markets such as South Korea.

Vietnam's southern metropolis HCMC came fifth. 


This year, city authorities plan 15-minute fireworks displays in celebration of National Day on the night of Sept. 2.

The ancient city Hoi An ranked sixth.


Ancient architecture, a slow pace of life, and low cost of living ensure foreign tourists fall in love with the city.


Recently, Hoi An has won numerous honors from international travel magazines.


According to the annual World's Best Awards announced in July by American travel magazine Travel & Leisure, Hoi An surpassed Chiang Mai and Bangkok to rank fourth in the category of the 25 most beautiful cities in the world for 2024.

Hanoi, which is preparing to enter the autumn season, ranked seventh.


From September to December, Hanoi is typically dry and cool, hovering between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius, making it ideal to engage in outdoor activities.

Phan Thiet, home to popular resort town Mui Ne, came in eighth.


Phan Thiet is home to ancient fishing villages and pristine beaches.


A new expressway to the city was opened to traffic last year, making travel between HCMC and the destination easier.

The northern highlands resort city Sa Pa, famous for its year-round cool climate, ranked ninth.


One of the famed tourist destinations in Sa Pa is Mount Fansipan at 3,145 meters, nicknamed 'the roof of Indochina' and a Mecca for Vietnamese trekkers.

The former imperial city of Hue concluded the list.


Famous for its beautiful landscape and slow pace of life, the city is much loved by tourists for its royal tombs and ancient pagodas.
